What topics does Clearwell cover?
Clearwell covers the Water Treatment Grade 1 exam with 172 questions in 12 topics: treatment math, disinfection, filtration, drinking water standards, coagulation and settling, disinfection byproducts, microbial monitoring, compliance and reporting, safety, cross-connections, source water, and lead, copper and corrosion. Your state sets its own exam, so check its own study material too.
How many practice questions are included?
Clearwell 1.0 includes 172 original practice questions for Water Treatment Grade 1, each with an explanation and its public source.
Can I access Clearwell offline?
Yes! Clearwell is designed to work completely offline. Download the app, purchase access, and study anywhere—on the job site, during your commute, or anywhere without internet connection. Your quiz data is never sent to our servers.
Do I need to create an account?
No. Clearwell doesn't require an account, login, email, or any personal information. Your progress is saved locally on your device. No account means no data collection and better privacy.
What happens to my progress if I reinstall the app?
Your local quiz history and streak data are stored on your device. If you reinstall Clearwell, you'll start fresh with a new score history.
Is Clearwell a study guarantee or a study tool?
Clearwell is a study tool to help you prepare. Passing your state certification exam depends on your study effort, background experience, and familiarity with the material. Clearwell provides high-quality, source-cited practice questions—but exam success ultimately depends on you.
Do you update questions to match current exam content?
Each question cites the source it was checked against. When a source changes, the question is corrected in a free app update. Your state sets the exam itself, so check its own study material too.
Can I get a refund?
Refunds are handled by the store you bought from. On iPhone and iPad, request one through your App Store account under Apple's refund policy (how to request a refund on the App Store). On Android, request one through Google Play (how to request a refund on Google Play).
Is Clearwell on Android?
Yes. The Android app has the same 172 questions, the same four modes and the same one-time unlock, bought through Google Play. It isn't on Google Play yet.
How do I know the questions are accurate?
Every question in Clearwell cites its public source: federal regulations (40 CFR and 29 CFR), EPA and USGS publications, and state agency material (Florida DEP, Utah DEQ, Minnesota Rules). The full list, with addresses, is on the home page and in the app's About screen. Every question was checked against its source before release, and you can check any answer yourself.

If you find an error, please email us at support@8086.llc with details. Include the question number, your concern, and the source you're referencing. We take accuracy seriously and will investigate every report.
