Frequently Asked Questions
What questions are in the app?
Oathcard includes the official 2025 USCIS civics interview question bank: 128 questions drawn from the M-1778 civics test fact sheet. You can study the full bank or the special 20-question subset used for certain applicants. These are the real questions used in actual USCIS naturalization interviews.
Are the questions updated automatically?
The app comes with the official 2025 USCIS bank and will not update automatically in the field. If USCIS releases new questions in a future year, you would receive an app update to include those. For now, the app ships with the current official M-1778 bank.
What about the state officials (governors and senators)? Are they current?
Yes. The app includes current governors and senators for all 50 states, D.C., and 5 U.S. territories. Every official entry carries a visible publication date. The bundled officials were last checked on 2026-10-18. After launch, state official data will be refreshed periodically through app updates.
Can I use this app without an internet connection?
Yes, completely. The app works 100% offline. Study flashcards, take practice interviews, look up state officials—all without internet. The app makes no network calls of its own (only the App Store or Google Play contacts the network, when you buy or restore the unlock) at any time.
Do you collect my data or track my quiz scores?
No. Oathcard collects zero data. The app keeps only a few settings on your device (your chosen state, your unlock and the small markers the Privacy Policy lists). We have no servers, no analytics, and no way to see your activity. See the Privacy Policy for complete details.
Is there a microphone or speech requirement?
No. Oathcard has zero speech-recognition or microphone requirements anywhere. You can study and practice entirely through reading and tapping, with no audio input needed. The app requests no microphone permission at all.
How much does the app cost?
Oathcard is free to download. Free, you get the 20 starred 65/20 questions as flashcards, the 10-question 65/20 practice interview and the state officials lookup. One $5.99 purchase unlocks all 128 questions and the 20-question practice interview, for good. No subscription and no recurring charges.
Can I use the same purchase on both iPhone and Android?
No. The iOS purchase (App Store) and Android purchase (Google Play) are separate. If you use both platforms, you'll need to purchase the app on each. However, you can switch between devices at no additional cost within the same platform.
What if I have trouble downloading the app?
Make sure you have enough storage space on your device and a stable internet connection (needed only for the initial download; the app runs offline after that). If you encounter app-store-specific issues, check Apple's or Google's support pages for your platform. If the issue persists, contact us at support@8086.llc and describe what you see.
Can I get a refund?
Refunds are handled by the store you bought from, under its own rules: on iPhone, request one from Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com; on Android, through Google Play (Account > Payments & subscriptions > Budget & history). We cannot issue store refunds ourselves.
Does the app teach Spanish or other languages?
Oathcard is currently available in English only. The questions, answers, and all content are in English to match the official USCIS civics test, which is administered in English.
Is this an official USCIS app?
No. Oathcard is an independent app made by 8086 LLC. It is not created by, endorsed by, or affiliated with USCIS or the Department of Homeland Security. However, it uses the official USCIS civics question bank (public government content) to help you prepare for the real interview.
